MUNCIE, IN—Join Indiana Youth Institute (IYI) for an expert analysis of the latest child-focused data from their 2023 Indiana KIDS COUNT® Data Book on Wednesday, March 29 during IYI’s annual Muncie State of the Child presentation.
This year, the event is followed by a special, two-hour grant clinic for youth serving organizations applying for the $45 million Lilly Endowment initiative, Strengthening Youth Programs in Indiana (SYPI).
Registration for each event is required.
Indiana ranks 28th in the country in child well-being measurements, according to Annie E. Casey Foundation’s national Indiana KIDS COUNT® Data Book. IYI is the Indiana Annie E. Casey Foundation KIDS COUNT network partner. State of the Child campaign is IYI’s series of presentations and conversations with communities across the state to explore what the data means for Indiana kids and why it matters.
Register here for State of the Child. Seating is limited to 150.
“This is a deep dive into the latest demographics with insightful analysis about issues affecting children and their families,” said Jenni Marsh, president and CEO of Heart of Indiana United Way, which is a sponsor of the event. “These are numbers that inform our actions.”
IYI’s data team will present the 2023 KIDS COUNT® Data Book and provide a nuanced understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing Indiana’s kids.
After the numbers crunch, Kortney Zimmerman, senior program officer for the George and Frances Ball Foundation will explain the Cradle to Career initiatives in Muncie.
It is the mission of IYI to provide critical data, capacity-building resources, and innovative training for people and organizations that impact the healthy development of Indiana’s children and youth.
The State of the Child event starts with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Ball State University’s Alumni Center. The program goes 8:30 -10:30 a.m. State of the Child will be livestreamed on the IYI and Heart of Indiana United Way’s Facebook pages.
