MUNCIE, IN – To celebrate Giving Back Tuesday and provide assistance to several local organizations, Minnetrista will be collecting specific items on Tuesday, November 29 in the Center Building.
The organizations benefiting from the event include the YWCA of Central Indiana, Open Door Health Services, Whitely Community Food Pantry, and Muncie Toys for Tots.
Each organization will be looking for something specific. The items needed are as follows:
YWCA: Personal care items, towels, pillows, twin sheets
Toys for Tots: New or gently used unwrapped toys for children ages newborn-12. No used stuffed animals or books will be accepted
Open Door Health Services: Diapers and wipes
Whitely Community Food Pantry: Dry pasta & sauce, Oats (oatmeal), Cornmeal, Canned Meats (assorted), Bagged Rice, Peanut Butter
Bryan Ayars, CEO of Open Door Health Services said, “This is a great example of no single organization being able to solve the problems of the community alone. Minnetrista’s decision to help us help others— in this case collecting diapers for distribution to our patients and families in need— not only provides something essential to vulnerable infants and families, it allows us to extend assistance to more families to ensure they are able to meet their basic needs.”
Those participating will receive a coupon to Minnetrista’s Orchard Shop for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more.
Open Door will also be administering flu shots between 10am and 2pm.
“When you give, you help lift others into a place where they can give also,” said Ken Hudson, Executive Director Whitely Community Council.
