MUNCIE, Ind.—America’s Hometown Band will perform on-stage at Canan Commons in Muncie. It will be this summer’s first performance of the Big Band from America’s Hometown Band. The music lineup is a primer of hugely popular swing-band tunes & the bandleaders who made them great. From the Glen Miller Band’s 1945 hit, Leap Frog, to the Dean Martin vocal chart-buster in 1954, Sway, to the fabulous Ray Charles song released in 1962, I Can’t Stop Loving You – this is some of the most-loved American music ever.
Guest vocalist for this program is local musician (and Yorktown HS Band Director) Clay Arnett. Bandleader for the America’s Hometown Band Big Band is Larry McWilliams, Ball State University emeritus music professor & developer of the Jazz Music program at BSU.
Free admission, bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating and there will be free parking nearby. According to the band’s website, the concert begins at 7pm.
The non-profit America’s Hometown Band is Muncie’s municipal band, which is grateful to its seasonal sponsors, including the City of Muncie; Muncie Power Products; Muncie Community Schools; the Exchange Club of Muncie; Ball State University; Emens Auditorium; the E.B. & Bertha C. Ball Foundation; Old National Bank; Mutual Bank; American Legion; Community Foundation of Muncie & Delaware County; Ball Bros Foundation; and the many individual gifts large and small from AHB Band Fans and band members.
Individual donations are always welcome at any concert; donations can also be made via the AHB website www.amhometownband.org, or the Facebook page – America’s Hometown Band.
