MUNCIE, Ind.—April 3-9, 2022 is National Library Week. Muncie Public Library (MPL) encourages all community members to visit in-person or online to explore and access services and programs.
According to a press release from the American Library Association, “National Library Week is a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians, and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. Whether people visit virtually or in-person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery, and exploration.” First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries of all types across the country each April.
Mayor Dan Ridenour, on behalf of the City of Muncie, recognized the contributions of MPL during a recent City Council meeting, presenting MPL administrators with proclamations to recognize the special week and to congratulate MPL on the important role it serves in the community. The proclamations will be on display at each MPL branch throughout National Library Week.
Community members can show their appreciation and support for libraries by visiting MPL and by following the library on social media and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek. While a card is required to check out materials from MPL, a card is never required to visit MPL to explore the collections or to attend events or other activities.
