MEETING INFORMATION
Subject: Storer Committee Meeting with the public
When: Tuesday, August 24, 2021 (6:30 PM-7:30 PM)
Where: Northside Church of God
The new proposed subdivision, built on the former location of Storer Elementary, will create up to 34 lots for homes when subdivided. The current plan is to create single-family homes throughout the area by selling the lots to individual builders.
The City of Muncie agreed to purchase the property in 2018 and has recently completed demolition of the site after starting the process in 2019.
Currently, construction plans for the needed infrastructure work are nearly complete. This will allow the city to go out to bid for the project’s infrastructure. After that process is done, Muncie will be able to sell the available lots.
The meeting with the neighborhood and the development committee will discuss walking trails, playgrounds and other greenspace aspects of the development. Several meetings have already been held to discuss other aspects of the neighborhood.
Earlier plans for the development had called for a pond flanking the development. Due to the results of a water and soil test this week, the development will need to utilize a dry bed water retention area instead of a wet bed retention pond. This opens up the area to have additional green space and more extensive trails.
