Former Bearcat boys basketball coach “happy to be home”
Muncie, Ind. – Jeff Holloway, a 1994 Muncie Central High School graduate, is returning to the school as its new athletic director. He rejoins the Bearcats after serving as boys head basketball coach from 2014-17. He succeeds Tom Lyon who retired earlier this month after 22 years with Muncie Community Schools.
“This is an opportunity to help and give back to where I’m from,” Holloway told the MCS Board of Directors. “I think I can help make connections in the community and build relationships with students.”
Holloway has spent the last four years as boys head basketball coach at Avon High School where he led the Orioles to a record of 39-55 and won a 4A sectional championship in 2019, its first since 2002. His previous three years as the Bearcats’ coach resulted in a 36-37 record and two sectional championship appearances.
Holloway was a senior on the Bearcats’ 1993-94 team that went 24-2. He went on to play at Division I Arkansas State University before embarking on a professional playing career overseas. He has a Master’s degree in Sport Administration from Ball State University and officially begins his new position July 1.
