Muncie, IN— Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, the organization behind DWNTWN The Original Muncie, has launched a regional campaign to encourage people to “EMBRACE THE ORIGINAL.”
The campaign will promote the many things that are original to DWNTWN—including its local restaurants, bars, unique trail system, parks and more.
“This campaign celebrates the resilience and originality of DWNTWN,” said Nick Tokar, president of the MDDP board. “DWNTWN is a destination for exploring the arts, discovering new things, and making memories. The campaign will reintroduce DWNTWN The Original Muncie to locals and visitors alike.”
In 2013, MDDP launched a campaign to inspire Muncie residents to invest in the heart of their city. A few years later, in 2015, a second campaign asked residents to dream about what the future could have in store for DWNTWN. Those campaigns resulted in a substantial economic impact, leading DWNTWN to generate the most tax per acre than any other area of Muncie.
Now, eight years after the original campaign and after having undergone immense economic development and infrastructure transformations, DWNTWN is welcoming all of East Central Indiana to explore the revitalized city center.
The new campaign is intended to spur visitorship to DWNTWN as we move forward. Despite the global effects of the past year, DWNTWN is continuing to grow with business and activity.
“We are excited to launch this campaign and showcase the DWNTWN businesses, events and attractions as we invite you to EMBRACE DWNTWN The Original Muncie,” said Vicki Veach, executive director of MDDP.
The area is home to 23 bars and restaurants, 26 unique retail shops, 23 entertainment and arts venues, and over 50 days of annual events.
This summer’s events include concerts, outdoor movie screenings, art festivals, “DWNTWN WKNDS” and more. For a full list of events and descriptions, visit downtownmuncie.org.
