Muncie, IN—The YMCA of Muncie is excited to announce the reopening of its aquatics center at the downtown YMCA. Made possible by the federal COVID Relief funding, the organization plans to offer more programming, including aquatics classes, safety around water programs and additional active older adult programs, at the location as well.
“The YMCA of Muncie has served the community for more than 144 years, during which we have made it through many challenging times together, none perhaps as impactful for our community and our Y as this COVID crisis,” said Chad Zaucha, President & CEO, YMCA of Muncie. “We are thrilled to begin reopening additional programs and services, welcoming back our members and the community, and getting back to what we do best – helping everyone reach their full potential. Without this funding, the YMCA would not have the financial resources available to reinstate these offerings, so we are very thankful to receive it.”
The Y is striving to get back to a new normal while still coping with the after-effects of the spring shutdown and the financial impact. With a calculated rollout of amenities, the Y hopes to be good stewards of their resources while still providing needed programming like Summer Day Camp, Safety Around Water and Active Older Adult Classes.
“When we closed our facilities in the spring, we did so to protect the health and well-being of all our staff, volunteers, members and participants. As we now begin to reopen our facilities and add more programs and amenities, we do so with that same commitment to keeping everyone who enters our doors safe,” said Will Issacs, CVO, YMCA of Muncie.
