Muncie, IN—The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie wrapped up another successful Just Desserts Fundraiser despite the change in format. This year’s event raised $11,394.36 during the event on Friday, November 6. This total does not include the $3,735.56 raised at events leading up to the main event. The money raised from this event will go directly toward providing quality programs for the local Clubs.
This year’s Just Desserts took on a new format to maintain staff, volunteer, and participant safety. Instead of one large event, the Clubs held multiple small events throughout the month of October leading up to the dessert giveaway on November 6. The first event was the oh-so-fun Pie in the Face fundraiser which raised over $3,700. Friends of the Clubs donated to watch staff throw a pie in the face of CEO Jason Newman.
Throughout the rest of the month, Pete’s Bar and Grill and Once Upon a Plate placed decadent desserts up for auction on Facebook. The Clubs would like to say thank you to all that donated time, money, and desserts to these auctions.
The fundraiser concluded on Friday night with a drive-up dessert give away. Supporters of the Clubs purchased tickets they traded in for bags filled with desserts from local bakeers Queer Chocolatier, Cakeology and Charmed Cupcakes. Event goers line up, in their cars, around the Madison Street Club to get their bag of delicious desserts.
Thanks continue on to our gracious sponsors for this event. Like helping youth reach their full potential, an event of this caliber takes many supporters. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie would like to extend a big thanks to our Dessert Sponsor, Midas of Anderson and Muncie whose support goes beyond this event. We would also like to thank our Drive Up Lane Sponsors, Ball State University – Office of Community Engagement, David P. Gilliam and Associates Inc., HIS German Auto Parts, Ivy Tech Community College, and Reed’s Plumbing. Thank you to our Club Sponsors – Affinity Properties LLC, American Mortgage Service Company, First Merchants Bank, Kramer Real Estate Group, Open Door Health Services, Techwise Academy, and Whitinger & Company. This event would not be possible without the donations from our local chefs.
Funds from Just Desserts help fund the after school programs that take place throughout the year. For more information about these programs, please visit www.bgcmuncie.org.
