Albany, IN—Alaska Heating and Cooling has been in business since 1992. We came together as a family and invited some friends over, threw some possible names in a hat and drew out “ALASKA”. That’s how we got our name. Our first day of operation, with our new phone number, we received a call from Mr. Corder and we have been rolling ever since. We are a small family business. However, we are very strong in knowledge and commitment to customer service. Our success comes from being consistent year-after-year. We update our products of course, but bottom line, we are consistent and our customers love that. When we answer the phone, it is the same customers who call us, year-after-year.
We install everything from simple air conditioning systems, to more technical geothermal systems and everything in between including, gas furnaces, boilers, heatpumps, ductwork, you name it. Basically everything for a customer to get heating, cooling, and ventilation into their homes and businesses and stay comfortable. Click below to listen to Kelli, one of our satisfied customers!
We provide free estimates for residential, commercial, industrial furnance or air conditioning replacements, upgrades or new installations and additions. We sell Comfortmaker® Heating and Cooling furnaces, air conditioners, heatpumps, and air handlers, which are made by United Technology. We are confident in our product and have been installing the same brand for 25 years. We also service other brands, as needed by our customers. In addition, we also offer annual service agreements for our customers that provide additional benefits and coverage to our customers throughout the year. Our team consists of Chris Selvey, Angela Selvey, Gary Selvey, Tammy Zehner, Jeff Hanna, Matt Norris, and Phillip Newsome.
Tips on Keeping Your AC Unit Running Smoothly
Many homeowners have central air conditioning units attached to their furnaces. Central air conditioners and the fans on your furnace work together to circulate cool air throughout your home. Cleaning the ducts and filter of your furnace will increase the life and efficiency of your air conditioning unit.
Place your air conditioning unit on the north side of your home or build a screen to provide shade to the unit. A shaded unit will cool your home faster and reduce your electric bills due to a shorter running time. Your air conditioner should last between 15 and 20 years with the proper upkeep.
Hose the condenser coils of the unit while the AC to the unit is turned off. You’ll want to do this before and after each warm season to prevent dirt build-up.
Keep debris, such as leaves, twigs, and grass clippings away from your outdoor AC unit. Cover it during the winter months.
Hire a professional annually to check your AC unit. Many homeowners opt to have their furnace and AC unit checked at the same time. During an inspection, Alaska Heating and Cooling professionals will check voltage levels, lubricate moving parts and add Freon if needed.
“When you buy from a small mom or pop business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom or dad put food on the table, a family pay a mortgage, or a student pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders and they are the ones we strive to make happy. Thank you for supporting small businesses.”—Unknown
