Muncie, IN—Psi Iota Xi Charities Inc. is pleased to announce its Philanthropic Grant Awards for 2019. These grants are funded from profits earned at The Bargain Box, 607 E. Charles Street in Muncie. The Bargain Box is a resale shop operated and staffed by volunteer members of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. The purpose of the sorority is “the furthering of philanthropic, cultural and social enterprises” in our community. This year’s grants totaling $18,000 were awarded to the following worthwhile organizations:
A Better Way – $3,500 for upgrades to the kitchen and appliances at the shelter.
The Alpha Center – $3,000 to fund the start up of the Bright Start Healthy Eating Program.
Christian Ministries of Delaware County – $2,200 to purchase protein rich staple food items for meals provided to the men’s shelter clients.
Cornerstone Center for the Arts $2,000 to help fund the 401 (k) scholarship program enabling more students to benefit from the positive effects of participating in the arts.
Delaware County Special Needs Prom – $1,600 for prom funding to inspire, encourage, and enhance self-esteem for individuals with special needs in our community.
Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County Funders Forum – $500 to contribute to the 2020 focus for funding which is the opioid crisis in our community.
Masterworks Chorale $400 for the purchase of music for the Holiday Concert.
Muncie Symphony Orchestra $1,800 to fund the Young Artist Competition for grades 6 thru 12.
Project Lifesaver/Care Trak $1,500 for the purchase of radio transmitting bracelets for the mentally impaired, autistic children and alzheimer patients.
Youth Symphony Orchestra $1,500 to provide opportunities for attendance at music camp for any interested student.
