Muncie, IN— Magna Powertrain Muncie held a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony today to commemorate the establishment of a new walking track for its employees and their families at 4701 S. Cowan Road in Muncie. An identical track has also been constructed at Magna Powertrain’s adjacent facility on Fuson Road.
According to Magna Powertrain Muncie General Manager Stephen Brand, the walking track requires an individual to walk 6 laps in order to complete a one-mile walk.
“Magna’s Corporate Constitution and Employee’s Charter are the backbone for how all our employee’s work together,” Brand said. “One of our specific Common Sense Charter Principles is a ‘Safe and Healthful workplace.’ That’s part of the reason for the installation of these walking tracks you see here today. I hope all of my coworkers and their families will take steps towards a healthier lifestyle, by making laps on these walking tracks.”
Magna Powertrain is an “AchieveWeLL Three Star Level” business. Brand hopes the addition of the walking tracks will take the company to a Four Star Level.
AchieveWELL is a strategic process that provides a road map to the destination of a well workplace and recognizes excellence in the field of health promotion. The Wellness Council of Indiana developed AchieveWELL to assist employers in creating a corporate culture that encourages and supports employee health through worksite wellness initiatives.
Companies must first work toward attaining the Three Star Level. At this level, companies must show that they can provide a blueprint and strategy for a successful wellness initiative in the workplace. Once a company has achieved a Three Star Level, they can work toward the Four Star Level. This level is designed to strategically evaluate, plan, and analyze the growth of business wellness initiatives.
In 2016, Muncie & Delaware County received recognition as a community committed to life enhancing change through employer-sponsored wellbeing initiatives – a Indiana Healthy Community – at the annual Wellness Council of Indiana awards luncheon.
