Muncie, IN—Cornerstone Center for the Arts is excited to announce a new entertainment series launching this fall. Performances @ Cornerstone is presented in partnership with Ball State University’s School of Music, Department of Theatre & Dance, and The Harmony Players. The series will consist of free biweekly performances on Sundays at 2 p.m. in the E.B. Ball Auditorium at Cornerstone.
Performances @ Cornerstone will kick off on Sunday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. with an afternoon of music from Ball State’s New Music and Electroacoustic ensembles. All Performances @ Cornerstone events are free and open to the public.
Both groups will be feature improvisational works, including Soundpainting, the multidisciplinary live composing sign language for musicians, actors, dancers and visual artists, created in Woodstock, NY, by Walter Thompson. Soundpainting currently comprises over 1,500 gestures and is used by professionals, educators, and students in at least 40 counties. It is a collaborative means of creating music in the moment, in which the Soundpainter signs to the group what to perform.
This one-of-a kind performance is just the beginning of the series which will include United Sound & BSU School of Music (September 22), BSU Department of Theatre & Dance (October 13), BSU Woodwind Chamber Music Ensemble (October 27), BSU Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble & Cardinal Trombone Choir (November 10), The Harmony Players (November 24), with more to come in 2020!
