Muncie, IN – Was it Mrs. Mulberry with the letter opener? Perhaps it was Professor Pershing with the leather briefcase? Could it be Lieutenant Liberty with the globe?
A crime – pretend crime, that is – has been committed and we need YOUR help finding the culprit and the “weapon” used.
Join fellow citizen sleuths for the first Muncie Mystery during First Thursday on June 6 in downtown Muncie.
Here’s the deal, detectives: The only pure amber Ball jar ever produced has been stolen! The jar jewel of Alva Kitselman’s private collection, it is worth an estimated $15,000.
Six primary suspects – Mrs. Mulberry, Doctor Charles, Lieutenant Liberty, Mademoiselle Madison, Sir Seymour and Professor Pershing – were spotted near the scene at the time of the crime. And, lucky for our game-playing gumshoes, puzzling pieces of evidence were left behind.
Between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, investigators of all ages are invited to visit 10 participating downtown businesses for clues about the suspects and weapons.
At each location, you will have the chance to answer a Muncie trivia question – provided by the Delaware County Historical Society – to learn more about our city and earn a clue.
Participating businesses are Debbie’s Handmade Soap, The Hayloft Boutique, Twin Archer Brewpub, Mulberry Street Uniques, Aw Yeah Comics-Muncie, Vintage Shoppe Thrift & Gift, Intersection, Olive & Slate and Muncie Map Co.
The guilty party and facts about the case will be revealed at Muncie Civic Theatre at 7 p.m.
Sleuths who correctly identify the perpetrator and weapon will be entered into a drawing for great prizes, including an overnight stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Muncie at Horizon Convention Center, Muncie Civic Theatre tickets, a Silver Crystal Pendant from Pazols Jewelers, and more. You must be present to win.
You can download a Crime Tracker – with map – now at this link. You may also pick one up at First Thursday in any of the participating locations or at Dave’s Alley (where you will be turning in your completed Crime Tracker).
