Muncie, Indiana – Ball State University’s entrepreneurship program is the 12th best among undergraduates offerings in the nation, according to The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur magazine.

The Princeton Review’s 13th annual survey names the 25 undergraduate and 25 graduate schools best for entrepreneurship studies. Ball State moved up from 20th last year.

Since its formation in 1983, the Entrepreneurship Center has been a leader in entrepreneurial education — taking creative risks through evidence-based approach — and has been consistently recognized as one of the best in the country.

“For the last 25 years, Ball State has been attracting young students who are ambitious risk-takers, passionate about bringing their business ideas to the marketplace,” said Matt Marvel, the George A. Ball Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship and director of the  Entrepreneurship Center, who noted Ball State is the only school in Indiana recognized in the undergraduate rankings.

“The Princeton Review is recognizing that our undergraduate degree in entrepreneurial management is one of the most challenging on campus and among the most rigorous entrepreneurship programs in the country. Over the course of two years, students develop a business plan for a new venture and ultimately defend it before a panel of executives and alumni entrepreneurs — all with graduation on the line.”—Matt Marvel

The center is part of the Department of Management within Ball State’s Miller College of Business. Learning at and working with the center connects students with the college’s community of distinguished business leaders.

The Princeton Review tallied its 2019 lists based on surveys it conducted from July through August 2018 of administrators at more than 300 schools offering entrepreneurship studies. The 60-question survey covered the school’s commitment to entrepreneurship studies inside and outside the classroom.

Entrepreneur posted the lists on https://www.entrepreneur.com/topcolleges. The magazine will also publish the lists and a feature on the rankings in its December issue available on newsstands November 27. The feature offers details about the schools’ programs and the number of entrepreneur-related courses they offer. It also reports on the number of startups the schools’ graduates launched in the past 10 years and levels of funding they raised.
