Muncie, IN—Teens in grades 8-12 are invited to learn more about videography and editing using state of the art equipment at the 2018 Summer Film School at Muncie Public Library (MPL). This free program provides three weeks of hands-on production experience and classes related to film production. Students will not only get to discover the filmmaking process but by the end, each will have six completed video projects for their professional portfolio.

“The students will have cameras in their hands on the first day,” said Dan Allen, a Technology Coordinator at MPL. “The Film School lets students explore the field of videography and film writing and editing to see if it might be something they want to pursue as a career and at college.” One of the participants in the 2017 Film School said in his review at the end of the program, “Film is more than meets the eye. It’s not just people in front of the camera-there is deeper thought that must go into it.”

The Summer Film School will take place Mondays through Fridays June 11-June 29 from 2 – 6 p.m. at Maring-Hunt Library in the idea studio creative center on the second floor. The final day of the school is a special showcase of the videos. “We realize that is a lot of time, but the experience is set up to mirror the deadlines and schedules one might find in the field of film production,” said Allen.
