Muncie, IN—Two-time Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie Club Youth of the Year, Kamrein Jackson, will emcee the Mayor’s State of the City address at 7:30 a.m. April 25.
Jackson, 16, a Central High School sophomore, told his own inspiring story at the Club’s annual Great Futures Luncheon in January.
“I’ve been judged for my hair, my clothes, and for the color of my skin,” he said. “I’ve been judged and told I couldn’t. I want to be that person that everybody looks at and says, ‘here’s a young man who can.’”
Jackson will represent Muncie at the district competition in Indianapolis later this spring.
“Kamrein is a special youth,” said Jason Newman, Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie CEO. “He is a leader at the Club and I could not be prouder of him and I’m not at all surprised that he’s been given this opportunity.”
At Central, Kamrein plays junior varsity basketball and the saxophone.
The Mayor’s State of the City, a breakfast meeting at the Horizon Convention Center, will feature highlights from the past year. Click here to reserve your free seat at the breakfast.
