Indianapolis, IN – Ivy Tech Community College and Marian University have partnered to create a statewide reverse transfer agreement for students who have transferred to Marian prior to completing their associate degree at Ivy Tech.
“Ivy Tech is proud of this new partnership with Marian University to help Indianapolis students earn their associate degree,” said Russ Baker, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Ivy Tech. “This will provide them the opportunity to have a credential while advancing their undergraduate degree.”
In order to be eligible for the reverse transfer program, students need to meet the following transfer policies and conditions:
- Students must have completed a minimum of 15 credit hours from Ivy Tech
- Students must be a currently enrolled Marian undergraduate
- Students must have no prior degree from Ivy Tech
- Students must have met all admission requirements for Marian, including attainment of at least a 2.0 GPA from Ivy Tech
- Once the student has attained 75 or more total credit hours (including the minimum of 15 from Ivy Tech), they will be notified each semester of their potential eligibility for an Ivy Tech associate degree through reverse transfer until they opt-in or opt-out
“By allowing Marian University students to complete the associate degree that they started at Ivy Tech Community College, both institutions are demonstrating their commitments to the best interests of the student,” Dr. Thomas Enneking, Marian University provost, said. “It’s our mission to provide the student with the personal attention and resources that he or she will need to earn their bachelor’s degree and graduate career-ready. Earning the associate degree first should provide the student with a sense of accomplishment and provide them with the confidence they need on their journey to earning a four-year degree.”
Marian will be responsible for submitting all transcripts completed by eligible students to Ivy Tech for degree auditing. Ivy Tech will be responsible for determining, through reverse articulation and transcript review, which Marian courses may satisfy the associate degree requirements.
Reverse Transfer is designed to assist students in pursuing their career goals. Ivy Tech has partnered with several other institutions to offer reverse transfer, including: University of Southern Indiana, Indiana State University, Purdue University, Ottawa University, Trine University, University of Phoenix, Indiana Tech, Indiana Wesleyan, Western Governors University, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, Kaplan University and Grace College.
