Muncie, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Inc. has awarded $55,370 to nine nonprofit organizations from the Maxon Foundation Fund.
The Maxon Foundation Fund was established when assets of The Maxon Foundation were transferred to The Community Foundation. The Maxon Foundation was originally established by Maxon Corporation and the founding family as a way to give back to the community and support worthy causes in Delaware County. The Maxon Foundation Fund generally awards grants to organizations and programs that support at-risk children and families in Delaware County.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Delaware County received $5,000 to support their One-on-One Mentoring program. Through this program Big Brothers Big Sisters anticipates serving 125 matches this year in Delaware County.
Boys and Girls Club of Muncie received $5,000 to offer a wide range of need- and interest-based programs in four locations across Muncie. Programs will include tutoring, early college preparation, music, and art.
Bridges Community Services received $5,000 to defray costs of providing laundry and shower facilities to homeless adults and children at the Housing Utilization Building (HUB). The HUB opened in 2016 as part of a collaborative effort by regional homeless providers to end chronic homelessness in our community.
Christian Ministries of Delaware County, Inc. received $8,000 to provide a safe environment and services for families experiencing homelessness. Services include a comprehensive array of supports that assist people in achieving stability and allow them to move forward with their lives.
Greater Muncie, IN Habitat for Humanity received $10,000 to support revitalization efforts in the 8Twelve Coalition area, specifically for a house rehabilitation project.
Motivate Our Minds received $10,000 to defray the cost of providing academic advancement programming and exposure opportunities, including transportation access, for educationally at-risk children in Muncie.
Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce received $5,000 to defray the cost of hosting FAFSA labs in area high schools.
Youth Symphony Orchestras of East Central Indiana received $2,370 to provide student scholarships and equipment for a beginning string education program held on-site at Motivate Our Minds.
YWCA of Muncie received $5,000 to defray the cost of the Emergency Shelter program.
