Muncie, IN – Cardinal Greenways will host its second annual Bike Fest fundraising event the weekend of July 28 – 30. Presented by Old National Bank, CG Bike Fest is a 3-day cycling event featuring cycling tours, demonstrations, activities, games, music, and food. The event is for everyone: cyclists, families, children, and supporters of Cardinal Greenways, all ages and abilities.
Cardinal Greenways Bike Fest will kick off Friday, July 28 with a free, all-age community group ride at 5:30 p.m. Riders will gather at the Historic Wysor St. Depot and ride to Canan Commons in downtown Muncie, where they can participate in a festival kick off party featuring a BMX stunt show, music, bike-themed challenges, games, and a children’s bounce house.
Day 2 of Cardinal Greenways Bike Fest will be Great Greenway Tour Day. Touring the greenways will begin at 7:00 am Saturday, July 29. Tour participants can ride all or part of the 62+ miles of the Cardinal Greenway and the 6.8 miles of the White River Greenway. Included in the $35 registration fee is a short guided bike tour, with options of Muncie’s historical sites: Weird Muncie, Green Muncie, and Ball State University, as well as a Brewery Tour. Lunch is included, plus a Cardinal Greenways Bike Fest 2017 shirt. Families are invited to visit Cardinal Greenways’ headquarters, the Historic Wysor St. Depot, from 10 am to 1 pm. Supported by Ball Brothers Foundation, Cardinal Greenways will provide free family-fun activities, biking safety demonstrations, and outdoor games.
On Day 3, July 30, Cardinal Greenways Bike Fest will host the second Muncie Grand Prix Criterium Race— a USA Cycling sanctioned race. On the streets of downtown Muncie, the 0.7 mile course offers a variety of races with participants competing for money and prizes.
