Gateway to Growing along with Hoosier Roots, a non-profit looking to fight food insecurity in Muncie, will be hosting an opening celebration on Friday April 28th from 1:00-5:00 at the Maring-Hunt Community Garden!
Gateway to Growing is the product of a semester long partnership between Ball State Architecture students, the Maring-Hunt Community Garden, and Muncie Public Library. Gateway to Growing will be unveiling the first phase of a masterplan for the entire community garden site.
Hoosier Roots on Wheels will also be there to present their mobile veggie truck project. Events will include a ribbon cutting, music, a presentation of the overall site plan, as well as art and planting activities. Grand Grilling and the Barking Cow will be selling sandwiches and ice cream. $4 for sandwiches and $2.50 for ice cream. Drinks will be provided. All are welcome to come learn, play, and enjoy.
Gateway to Growing and Hoosier Roots were made possible through an Academic Excellence Grants and Ball State IL Provost Grant.
