Selma, IN—The Liberty-Perry Alumni Association (LPAA) is a 501©(3) non-profit organization that serves Wapahani, Center and Selma high schools and alumni. Established in 2008, the LPAA gives out two annual scholarships to graduating Wapahani seniors. In addition, the LPAA sponsors the annual Wapahani All Classes Reunion held annually in August during Selma Bluebird Days. This year’s Reunion will be the 4th annual.
The LPAA has developed and is currently selling engraved bricks for the first of its kind alumni walkway at a high school in East Central Indiana—the Liberty-Perry Alumni Schools Engraved Brick Walkway. This 10.5’ square walkway will be installed in June of 2017. The intention of the walkway is to pay respect to alumni and employees of Liberty-Perry schools, especially those from Center and Selma high schools. A Muncie Chamber Red Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the alumni walkway is scheduled for August 23, 2017 during Selma Bluebird Days. Walkway details and brick order form can be found on the newly renovated LP Alumni website, along with news, gallery, scholarships, donations and a webstore: www.libertyperryalumni.com
The LPAA is proud to have provided and dedicated a 3-school banner to Wapahani high school on January 27, 2017. This banner currently hangs in the Wapahani gymnasium to pay respect to the parent schools of Wapahani, Center and Selma high schools. Banner is pictured below and dedication video can be seen below.
The LPAA is also proud to have supported a group of eleven 1975 Wapahani alumni who are currently on a medical mission trip in Guatemala. They are returning home Friday, February 10, 2017. Monetary donations along with much needed supplies were graciously donated by the community, for the alumni group to take with them on this medical mission trip for the Guatemalan people. FOX 59 INDY NEWS was interested in the alumni’s story. Arrangements were made for a FOX 59 INDY News team to meet the seven local alumni at the Indianapolis airport on February 4, 2017, the morning they were to leave.
