From Friday through Sunday, December 16-18, We’re Trying Collective will host a pop-up shop featuring a curated collection of handmade artwork and home goods. We’re Trying, a group of Muncie-based artists whose mission is to collaboratively build community through creative expression, have set up a temporary shop in the Rose Court Building located at 125 E. Charles Street in downtown Muncie to feature one-of-a-kind gifts from local artists and makers. All sales will be cash or check only.
Community members are invited to drop in for a quick shopping trip or stick around for a number of special events that will be hosted at the shop throughout the weekend. On Friday night, the launch party will run from 7-10 pm and will feature beer from the newly established Elm Street Brewing Co. and music from DJ Mark Perretta. On Saturday, the shop will be open from 11 am-7 pm for retail and will re-open at 7:30 pm for a poetry and performance art event featuring Reacting Out Loud, a local poetry group, and Melissa Joy Livermore, a performance artist. The shop will be open again for regular retail from 11 am- 7 pm on Sunday, during which there will be artist demonstrations throughout the day.
We’re Trying Collective is the group behind the forthcoming mural collaboration with the Mark III Taproom, “On the Mark, For the City.” While all proceeds from the pop-up shop will go directly to the artists whose work is sold, the collective team will accept donations from community members interested in contributing to the mural project.
