Oakhurst Special Saturdays Kicks Off Saturday, September 10th

Muncie, IN—Mark your calendars! Minnetrista kicks off Oakhurst Special Saturdays, starting September 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Celebrate the legacy of George, Frances, and Elisabeth Ball by exploring their home during our Special Saturdays,” said Visitor Experience Manager, Allison Clark. “Visitors can come early for free family activities or pop in during the afternoon to explore the house. Whether you’ve been before or would like to check it out for the first time, we invite your family to make memories in one of our family homes.”

Every second and fourth Saturday of the month, from September to November, Oakhurst home will be filled with fun activities, tours, and open hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A schedule of events can be found below.

Partners in Literacy—Reading Activities; 10 a.m. to Noon

Let There Be Art!—Art Activities; 10 a.m. to Noon
September 24, October 22, and November 26

Open Hours—Noon to 4 p.m.

In 2015, Minnetrista was awarded with the Institute of Museum and Library Services Grant. With this grant, Minnetrista will create a brand new family-centered learning environment within the Oakhurst home.

Oakhurst Special Saturdays will create vibrant visitor experiences that connect people within the community, as well as encourage lifelong and family learning.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s 123,000 libraries and 35,000 museums. Their mission is to inspire libraries and museums to advance innovation, lifelong learning, and cultural and civic engagement.
