Muncie, IN—Cardinal Greenway invites members of the community to help celebrate the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day in Muncie on June 4, 2016. Events that day will celebrate the many features the Cardinal and White River Greenway trails have to offer and provide an opportunity for local residents to support these important community assets.
The Cardinal and White River Greenways contribute to the quality of life of area residents by providing a scenic and safe route for walking, biking, running, skating and enjoying nature. The June 4 events will be located at the Cardinal Greenway’s beautifully restored Wysor Street Depot, located at 700 East Wysor Street in Muncie.
5K Run/Walk – Walkers and runners will travel along the scenic Cardinal and White River Greenways for a competitive 5K Run and a non-competitive 5K Walk. Registration starts at 7am on June 4th with the 5K events beginning at 8am. Afterwards, participants will enjoy fun and food at the Historic Wysor St. Depot! Registration is just $25 and includes a commemorative t-shirt.
Trail Clean-up – Volunteers are needed for a cleanup effort along the Cardinal and White River Greenway that same morning. Registration for the cleanup starts at 8:30am on June 4th and the cleanup will take place at 9am, followed at 11am by a free picnic lunch and volunteer recognition program at the Depot.
