MCS Board of Trustees Approves Muncie Central High School Principal and Chief Information Officer

Muncie, IN —Mr. Christopher W. Walker was approved as the Principal of Muncie Central High School during the Special Work Session on March 29, 2016. He will take on his full responsibilities July 1, 2016. Mr. Walker graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1998, he received his Bachelor of Science from Ball State University in Social Studies Education in 2003, and his Masters of Arts in Education Administration from Butler University in 2014.

Christopher Walker brings significant urban school experience to MCS. He is currently the Associate Principal at Marion High School, Marion, IN. He has previously served as the Director of Interscholastic Athletics and Facilities at George Washington Community High School in Indianapolis Public Schools, Indianapolis, IN. He has experience as the Site Testing Coordinator for ISTEP, ECA, AP, and Dual Credit. He has been an expulsion hearing examiner and has experience in evaluating teachers. Christopher is enthusiastic and has great people skills. He is honored to accept the position as principal at Muncie Central High School. He and his wife of 15 years Katie, and their three children, Tyler, Tate and Grace are looking forward to moving back to Muncie.

In addition, Mr. Tony K. Harvey was approved as the Chief Information Officer for Muncie Community Schools during the Special Work Session on March 29, 2016. He will take on his full responsibilities July 1, 2016. Mr. Harvey is originally from Ghana, Africa. He received his Associates Degree in Computer Network Systems in 2006, his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Security in 2008, and his Masters in Business Administration in 2011, all from ITT Technical Institute.

Mr. Harvey is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Information Technology from Walden University. He is internationally trained with extensive knowledge in information technology, administration, office management, project coordination, and logistics. He has experience in building and managing domain controllers and other servers, creating virtual machines, training employees on software installation and usage, development of training materials, network design, virtual desktop infrastructure, and many other technology experiences. Tony also possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

Mr. Harvey, his wife, and two children are excited to join the Muncie Community. “I am extremely excited to have been offered the position of Chief Information Officer with Muncie Community Schools. The goals outlined for the position are well-matched to my abilities, and I consider it a privilege and honor to join your team. The position holds many challenges as we move forward to improve our service to the students, faculty, administration and community. I am looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that this position will provide in developing my skills as an educator and a professional technologist as we move the district forward in the state of Indiana. Thank you for making this process enjoyable. I am eager to work with all stakeholders in the Muncie Community School family to enhance the quality of the technology and IT infrastructure.”
