The Muncie Sanitary District in a partnership with the Muncie Police Department have made available a pharmaceutical drop box for old and unused prescription drugs to be disposed of in a safe and secure location for local residents.

Citizens can deposit their unwanted prescription drugs in a Med-Return drug disposal kiosk at Muncie City Hall located at 300 North High Street, on the first floor, right next to the City Hall Auditorium. Prescription drugs can be dropped off during regular business hours, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm. Only residents can drop off medication. The drop box is not for businesses or clinics.

Accepted items include:

Prescriptions
Prescription Patches
Prescription Medications
Over-the-counter medications
Vitamins
Samples
Medications for Pets

Items not accepted include:

Inhalers
Aerosol Cans
Lotions and Liquids
Medications from businesses or clinics
Needles (Can be safely disposed of at the Sanitation Department)
Thermometers

Help keep your unwanted and old prescriptions out of our water supply, trash stream, and away from children. Never flush prescription drugs or unwanted medicines down the drain and never discard them in your trash. All prescriptions and medications should be disposed of properly.
