Day of Action is a day-long event where volunteers from around Delaware County come together to serve partnering nonprofits. This day is a chance for people to give back to the community through volunteerism. Work at the agencies helps the volunteers better understand community needs, and the local not-for-profits that help fulfill them.
“It takes the whole community working together to achieve greatness. Day of Action is one big day of celebrating the community pulling together. The event allows the volunteers to see that even the smallest of actions can have a major impact on the community,” said Jenni Marsh, President and CEO of United Way of Delaware County.
United Way of Delaware County is partnering with the Chamber of Commerce of Muncie-Delaware County to coordinate Day of Action. The Chamber of Commerce has been involved with this special day from its reboot in 2014, and has helped this event grow through the years.
“Volunteerism in Muncie- Delaware County is really remarkable. We’re fortunate to have the level of volunteerism that we do,” said Jay Jullian, Chief Economic Development Officer, President and CEO of The Chamber of Commerce of Muncie Delaware County & Economic Development Alliance.
Day of Action will be set in motion on Thursday September 3, 2015 at the Horizon Convention Center, with hundreds of volunteers working with more than a dozen nonprofits. Volunteers will have the option of working the morning shift from 9:00 a.m.–12p.m., or afternoon shift from 1:30 p.m.—4:30 p.m.
Day of Action will begin with United Way’s Campaign Kick -Off Breakfast at the Horizon Convention Center. Those who wish to attend the breakfast must register with Caroline Klein by phoning 765-288-5586 or email cklein@uwdcin.org by August 31, 2015 to ensure seating availability.
Indiana Michigan Power is funding breakfast for all Day of Action volunteers. If volunteers wish to pay for their own breakfast, Indiana Michigan Power will donate $20 contribution for them to the campaign.
