MUNCIE, Ind. —‘Tis the season for giving, but Magna sees the season of giving as being a year-round endeavor. The company, located on Muncie’s southwest side, has been continually involved with giving back to the community since it opened its doors in 2006.

“It is important for Magna to support the communities in which we exist, and our employees live,” said Stephen Brand, general manager of Magna Muncie. “We encourage all employees to volunteer their time in the community. These activities are important for a vibrant and growing community to support growth at Magna.”

Local organizations are thankful for the support from the company, which has allowed them to help more people. For example, Magna raised more than $30,000 for Heart of Indiana United Way in 2020. C.S. Hendershot, assistant director of donor relations for Heart of Indiana United Way, said Magna’s contributions helped put children and families on a path to success.

“From sponsoring events and encouraging others to get involved, to diaper drives and the annual Heart of Indiana United Way campaign, employees at Magna continually join together in times of need to make sure our community’s families have a brighter future.”—Stephen Brand, General Manager, Magna

The Boys and Girls Club of Muncie is another local organization Magna supports. Amy Gibson, director of resource development for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Muncie, said Magna was the presenting sponsor of the 2021 Great Futures virtual event. The company spoke about how leadership opportunities at the Clubs allow youth to learn skills that Magna looks for in employees.

“Boys and Girls Clubs of Muncie is appreciative of the support that Magna has provided to the Clubs over the years,” Gibson said.

Along with helping children and families, Magna is also involved with feeding the hungry through partnering with the Soup Kitchen of Muncie. In fact, the Soup Kitchen of Muncie secretary, Adam Keever, is a warranty engineer at Magna. He said Magna has been a great help to the Soup Kitchen, which offers a hot meal and sack lunch to anyone Monday through Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

“Magna was a platinum sponsor for the annual fundraising dinner and auction this year with the help of Magna Muncie employee donations and a Magna Corporate match,” Keever said. “Magna was grateful to be able to bless the Soup Kitchen with a dozen frozen turkeys before Thanksgiving and its employees pulled together to provide some donations for Giving Thursday.”

Brand said Magna will continue to give back to the community in a variety of ways.

“Social responsibility is a vital component of any successful community and any successful company,” he said.

As such, community organizations will benefit from and be grateful for that assistance. Kim Williams, vice president of donor relations for Heart of Indiana United Way, said Magna is a loyal supporter.

“Magna embodies what it means to give from the heart,” Williams said.
