Muncie, IN —Narnia awaits.

Muncie Civic Theatre will present “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” on the Main stage Dec.  13-15, and 19-22. Performances on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the Sunday matinees will begin at 2:30 p.m.A Sensory-Friendly Performance will be Saturday, Dec. 14, at 2:30 p.m.

Based on the beloved C.S. Lewis novel, “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe” follows Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy through a wardrobe into the enchanting land of Narnia. There, they meet mythological creatures, talking animals, a terrible witch, and a wonderful and powerful Lion named Aslan.

But for director and Civic’s Executive Director Laura Williamson, it’s so much more than that.

“This story is very personal to me, as the director,” she said. “My dad read it to me when I was little.  He passed away this year.  But I’ve felt his warmth and presence throughout the process, reminding me of ‘The Deep Magic’ (of love) that Aslan embodies and represents in our story.”

This cast, Williamson said, “has been amazing to work with.”

“The four children – Damion Turley, Kalyn Melham, Victor Ayers, and Ruthie Peckinpaugh – are outstanding,” she added. “Their work and dedication to these roles has been nothing short of inspiring throughout the entire rehearsal process, which started in September.”

Aslan is played by Phil Peckinpaugh.  He brings tremendous strength and a simmering power to this role,” Williams said.  “The White Witch is played by Amanda Droste and she is quite terrifying, a perfect contrast to Aslan’s goodness.

“I couldn’t be more excited to share this play with our community, especially at Christmas.”

Tickets are $20 for adults, $17 for groups of 10 or more, and $15 for students and children.
