Muncie, IN—Bob Ross inspired generations of viewers with only his soft-spoken voice and a palette knife. His message of fearless compassion and life affirming creativity continues to reverberate today. And yet there is currently no place fans of Bob Ross can visit to celebrate and honor Bob’s life and legacy. At Minnetrista, we aim to change that.

The Bob Ross Experience at Minnetrista will create a space for Bob’s message to flourish. It will showcase his life and work, allowing visitors to stand in the exact studio where he painted. With its global impact, it’s hard to imagine that much of the beloved series, “The Joy of Painting,” was filmed in an unassuming studio in Muncie, Indiana. Bob painted for the iconic series out of the historic L.L. Ball home on Minnetrista’s campus from 1983 to 1988.

Minnetrista is partnering with Bob Ross Inc. to create a permanent experience that consists of a recreated studio, gallery space, and painting workshop. The Bob Ross Experience will reframe how people think about their mistakes, abilities, and self-expression, while creating a space for Bob’s life and work to be remembered and celebrated.

During the month of October we will be raising funds for the completion of the Bob Ross Experience. We are refurbishing Bob’s former studio, bringing together objects and media from Bob’s life and career, and adding interactive experiences that will bring the “Joy of Painting” to life for visitors. With the support of our friends at Bob Ross Inc. we have made extensive headway, but in the spirit of Bob himself we are inviting the broader community of his fans, supporters, and all those who have been impacted by his work to help with the efforts.

Today, September 25th marks the official launch date for our Indiegogo campaign! Show your support for the legacy of Bob Ross at: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/bob-ross-experience#/
