Muncie, IN — New and young parents are invited to attend a Community Baby Shower on Sept. 27, hosted by Muncie & Delaware County BY5 Early Childhood Initiative, Inc. and Open Door Health Services.
The shower will feature several tables of community resources and raffle prizes.
“Caring for our community is at the heart of what we do at Open Door, and we want our new parents to know support for their growing families is never far away,” said Suzanne Clem, director of community awareness at Open Door.
Attendees will be able to learn things like how they can access free diapers and diapering supplies through the Diaper Bank of Delaware County, or how their child could enroll in high-quality child care programs for free.
Currently, the list of community resources and vendors that are set to attend includes BY5, Open Door, United Way of Delaware & Henry Counties, Children’s Bureau, Inc., Healthy Families of Delaware County and several local day cares.
“People attending the event can expect to learn about several essential community resources that can benefit them and their families,” said Marissa Rose, director of strategic initiatives at BY5. “One of the most important things you can do for your child’s well-being is to be informed about community supports whose purpose it is to support you and your family.”
The Community Baby Shower will take place in the Open Door Community Room (333 S. Madison St.) from 1–3 p.m. on Sept. 27. It is free and open to the public—including mothers, fathers and other caregivers—and no reservations are required to attend.
Non-profit organizations that would like to set up an information table can contact Marissa Rose, director of strategic initiatives at BY5 at 765-216-7423.
