As president of Ball State University, I am pleased to report that our faculty, staff, and students have been hard at work laying the groundwork for our University’s new strategic plan—a plan that will shape the vision for what Ball State will become in our second century.

Our strategic planning process, titled “Spreading Our Wings,” got underway earlier this year. Throughout the Spring, we held eight open forums on campus, each focusing on a different strategic theme. In addition to the insights we gathered from our forums, we were pleased with the feedback we received from a campus-wide survey.

Now we’d like to receive the input of the Muncie community.

The University will host the “Spreading Our Wings” Community Forum from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, June 18, at the Horizon Convention Center. The theme of our interactive forum is “Even Better Together,” and we hope to see you there. Here is a link to our Facebook Event page.

We want your recommendations for how Ball State can build upon its relationship with the city of Muncie and East Central Indiana. We are eager to hear your ideas for how we can work as partners to make Muncie and our region an even better place to live, work, play, and grow.

And we would appreciate your help getting the word out about this event. Please share details about the forum with your family, friends, and colleagues. We want to capture the perspectives and ideas of as many members of the community as possible.

We’d also ask that you complete our “Spreading Our Wings” community survey. The survey will ask for your opinions about what Ball State is doing well and what we can do better. We want to hear your big and bold ideas about the University’s future goals. And most importantly, we would like to know how you would like to become more engaged in helping us better serve our students and communities.

You will have until June 20 to complete the survey. It only takes about 10 minutes to complete, and your response is confidential.

To learn how you can further engage in helping Ball State determine the mission, goals, and core values that will shape our University in the years to come, visit bsu.edu/strategicplan.

Thank you.
