Muncie, IN—City Council Member Julius Anderson (District 6) has invited Mayor Dennis Tyler and his Department Heads to participate in a series of community forums during Black History Month.  This is the sixth year that Councilman Anderson has partnered with local churches and neighborhood associations to host these meetings.

These meetings will allow Mayor Tyler to introduce his Department Heads to the general public so that they will have a better understanding on who to contact with specific questions and concerns.  Councilman Anderson said, “My goal has always been to make this an annual event to allow the public and the administration to come together and discuss matters that affect them.  This has been very successful over the years, and I hope people will come out and learn more about how local government can help.”

The following churches will host the 2018 meetings:

  • February 6:      Urban Light Church, 1400 South Madison (Andrew Draper, Pastor)
  • February 13:    Midtown Church of Christ, 901 Willard Street (Willie Parham, Pastor) Rescheduled for March 6th
  • February 20:    Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1431 East Willard (Larry McCoy, Pastor)
  • February 27:    New Testament Christian Ministries, 1218 South Brotherton (Clifford Clemons, Pastor)

All programs are free and will begin at 6:00 p.m. sharp and end at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will be given an opportunity to participate in discussions pertaining to housing, neighborhood revitalization, safety, animal control, streets, human rights, code enforcement and parks.
