Muncie, Ind. – One of the main values that Thrive Credit Union lives by is “community.” That is why the credit union began looking to recognize leaders in Delaware County who are helping the community “thrive” with the Thrive Community Leader Award.

On August 31, Thrive presented the Thrive Community Leader Award to Judge Marianne Vorhees. Vorhees is a Circuit Court Judge for Delaware County and a current board member on the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County.

Vorhees was nominated by Kelly Shrock, President of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County.

“Judge Vorhees serves our community in a variety of ways. A native of Muncie and a Ball State alumna, Judge Vorhees continues to give her time and talents to improve the quality of life for all residents and especially youth in our community. Her support of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County is just one of the many ways she helps our community thrive.”—Kelly Shrock

In addition to The Community Foundation, Judge Vorhees has also volunteered her time as a past board member of the United Way of Delaware County, Muncie Family YMCA, A Better Way, Prevent Child Abuse of Delaware County, Delaware County Convention and Tourism Commission. She is also past president of the Muncie Bar Association and has initiated many programs into the court system during her tenure as a judge

This is the second Community Leader Award that Thrive has awarded with Kevin Nemyer receiving the first award in June. Thrive is continuously looking for all types of leaders, as long as they are helping others in positive ways. “It can be someone who effortlessly volunteers for a local charity or a teacher that is positively impacting his or her students. We want to recognize all types of leaders who are doing great things in our community” said Brittani Richards, VP Marketing & Branch Operations at Thrive CU.

Thrive is now accepting nominations through November 1st for the Thrive Community Leader Award. To nominate a local leader, visit thrivecu.org to download the nomination form. Winners will be honored with a special celebration and awarded with special gifts to congratulate them for their contributions to our community.
