Muncie, IN—The Heorot Pub and Draught House in downtown Muncie has once again been selected as one of the Top 100 Beer Bars in America by Draft Magazine. Zack Fowle, editor of the Phoenix, AZ based magazine made the announcement yesterday.
The Heorot is the only pub in Indiana to be selected for the honor for the past seven years running.
In describing the process for awarding the honor, editor Zack said, ” We have, once again, posted our picks for the 100 Best Beer Bars in America! After spending another year compiling this annual list, zig-zagging around the country, drinking pints, chatting with bartenders and spinning around in bar stools, we’ve come up with our list of the best-of-the best.”
Draft Magazine’s description of the Heorot is below.

This venerable 21-year-old bar’s finally come of legal drinking age, and owners celebrated with four more draft lines that bring its total to 71 options. The bar’s been remodeled as well, opening up the front area for more seating that’s still within the medieval, Beowulf-y theme (see: a dragon-festooned stone fireplace). Taps carry more local beer than ever (3 Floyds, 18th Street) as the Indiana brewing scene continues to bloom, rounded out by one-offs from larger Midwest breweries.
The Heorot Pub is owned by Stan and Jeanette Stephens and is located at 219 S. Walnut Street in Muncie. The business is OPEN during the construction on Walnut Street.
