Muncie, INMuncie Journal.com launched July 1, 2015 and will have a different tone than that of other current community news outlets. The stories will be free for the community to access and will primarily focus on the following areas: (1) Education (2) Economic Development and (3) Quality of Life. Muncie Journal will strive to include the good things that are happening with businesses and non-profits within Delaware County.

Many community leaders have been integral in the creation of The Muncie Journal including Dr. Jeff Bird, MD, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Medical Officer, IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital; Tom Bracken, President of the George and Frances Ball Foundation; J Chapman, President of Woof Boom Radio; Jeff Daniels, General Manager of Toyota of Muncie; Jay Julian, President/CEO of the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce; Steve Moore, Vice President of Commercial Banking at First Merchants Bank; Casey Stanley, Vice President Marketing Business Development at Ontario Systems; and Pat Botts, President and COO at Mutual Bank.

Dr. Jeff Bird summed up the importance of such a strong backing when he said, “Something that makes Muncie unique is the many examples of leaders in the Muncie business community doing the right thing and not expecting anything in return. To see local leaders commit selfless acts for the greater good of their neighbors is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted and I’m proud to see examples of that happening time and time again.”

“With the launch of The Muncie Journal, the whole community now has the opportunity to read about and believe in the positive messages Muncie has to spread,” noted Tom Bracken about the creation of the Muncie Journal. Jay Julian echoed Mr. Bracken’s hopes when he stated, “Woof Boom’s newest initiative, The Muncie Journal, will showcase the many great people, businesses, organizations and activities that are happening in the Muncie-Delaware County area. I am very pleased to see the launch of this positive and informative media platform.”

“With all of the positive momentum occurring in Muncie, Delaware County and East Central Indiana, First Merchants Bank is pleased to have a centralized medium to communicate the positive, forward-thinking attributes behind the economic developments happening in our community,” Steve Moore commented about the need for The Muncie Journal in our community.

In the past, news in and around Muncie and surrounding East Central Indiana cities has been bleak, but the common theme in The Muncie Journal is positivity.
