MUNCIE, Ind.—Gordy Fine Art and Framing will celebrate an exhibition and sale of new paintings and sculpture by Alfredo Marín-Carle, beginning on Muncie’s First Thursday May 5, from 5pm – 8 pm. Marín-Carle joined the faculty at Ball State University in 1985. He is now Associate Professor Emeritus and resides in Indianapolis. Light refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.

Visions, the title of the exhibit, states simply that these works of art convey what the artist sees, reflecting his lifetime fascination with eastern philosophies.  “In the process of creation, I experience the Buddhist concept of interdependence,” says Marín-Carle, “that nothing exists on its own.”  The artist builds up layers and then sands them down. He uses stencils to apply forms and shapes, then rubs them with chemicals and carves deep and aggressive marks that disturb their clarity.  In this way he is exploring the creation and destruction always going on around us.

The show will be on view with works for sale through May 28.  Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company promotes talented artists, provides appraisals, and offers expert design and craftsmanship for framing and displaying treasured family possessions and works of art. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 9am – 5:30pm and Saturday from 10am – 3pm. Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company is located at 224 East Main Street, next door to the Muncie Civic Theatre.
