City of Muncie’s Youth Mentor and Summer Employment Program Applications Now Open

MUNCIE, IN—The City of Muncie’s Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the @ Promise Youth Mentor & Summer Employment Program from June 1st – July 8th, 2022.

This program is open to students between 12-16 years of age and reside in Muncie, IN. Selected students, up to 100, will be contacted for an interview prior to program acceptance.

Students selected to participate in the summer program will work every Thursday and Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. Job sites will include but not be limited to the Muncie Parks,  YMCA, YWCA, Second Harvest Food Bank, Cornerstone Center For the Arts, Muncie Mission and Victory Lap.

Students will also participate in a mandatory Mentor Program every Wednesday from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, focusing on STEM with Purdue Extension of Delaware County and Financial Literacy by Thrive Credit Union.

The Muncie Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with Thrive Credit Union which will allow participants to open individual accounts to enhance their financial responsibility knowledge.

All events and sessions are mandatory, and any inexcusable absence(s) will result in release from the program.

Interviews for the students will start the week of APRIL 6th. Additional interviews will take place from April 18th through April 22nd.
