MUNCIE, Ind.The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has partnered with Ivy Tech Community College for the Crossing the Finish Line initiative. The initiative was started in 2021 and served nearly 1,900 K-12 students across the state of Indiana during its initial year.

In the Muncie-Henry County Campus’s service area, there are over 600 students eligible to take part in the Cross the Finish Line initiative. Through this initiative, tuition, books, fees, and a select few other expenses are covered for eligible students. These students will be able to start their classes during the second eight weeks of the spring semester, which begin on March 23.

“We greatly appreciate this collaboration with the Indiana Department of Education. We have over 600 eligible high school students in Delaware and Henry Counties. Each high school will be sent their list of eligible students on February 28th,” Bonnie Willy, Executive Director of K-14 Initiatives, said. “Our local K-14 staff will work with high school counselors to notify eligible students and parents.”

The K-14 staff with Ivy Tech will notify school counselors of eligible students on February 28. Following this dispersal, eligible students will receive notification of their eligibility status directly from Ivy Tech Community College through email and a postcard.
