INDIANAPOLIS State Rep. Sue Errington (D-Muncie) joined Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch on Wednesday (July 28) to honor Brooke Stallings with the Brilliant Firefly Award for her dedicated service to the Muncie community.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Brilliant Firefly Award celebrates young Hoosiers who have distinguished themselves by demonstrating outstanding community service, exemplary academic achievement, and exceptional leadership in their communities.

Brooke Stallings, 18, has served the Muncie community diligently. She has dedicated her time and energy to a number of causes, including the opening of a mental health break room in Muncie Central High School in an effort to destigmatize mental health issues; participating as a member of the PRIDE Team to teach the community’s youth about the dangers of alcohol and drug use; and serving as an inaugural Web of Support ambassador, where she helped to create supportive messages to the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Brooke is a true inspiration to her peers and community,” Errington said. “When she saw others struggling throughout the pandemic, she reached out a hand and showed them that they were not alone. There is nothing more admirable than service to others.

“I am grateful to have the opportunity to honor Brooke with this award and would like to thank Lieutenant Governor Crouch for making this possible. There is no doubt in my mind that Brooke will go on to achieve great things and will continue to shape the Muncie community for years to come.”
