Muncie, IN – The YMCA of Muncie is launching its annual fundraising campaign on February 24, via Zoom, to help ensure everyone in the community has access to vital community programs and resources – especially during these challenging times.
Every year, the YMCA works to respond to the needs of the community and this year is no different. Since the country began seeing the effects of COVID-19, the Y mobilized to provide the essential services needed.
Since March 2020, the Y has: provided meals to children and families in our community; provided child care to essential workers; called seniors and others who face social isolation; modified the fitness center to ensure members feel safe while maintaining their healthy routines; and created a safe space for children to learn while schools operate remotely.
“Our community has faced unprecedented challenges this year,” said Chad Zaucha, CEO of the YMCA of Muncie, “but we’ve also seen unprecedented support from our members. Strong communities are built by people who care about one another, and this year has proven our community cares.”
This year, the YMCA of Muncie hopes to raise $215,000, which will support early childhood education, outdoor education, chronic disease prevention and safety around water programming.
A Virtual Campaign Launch, sponsored by Northwest Bank, will take place on February 24, 2021 at noon and will feature a virtual tour of the Y and stories from program participants, hosted by our co-chairs Delaina Boyd, VP of Community Engagement for Ball State University and Marsha McGriff, Associate VP of Inclusive Excellence at Ball State University.
