Muncie Parks and Recreation Announces Summer Jobs Program for Area Youth

Muncie, IN—The City of Muncie’s Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor the Promise Youth Mentor & Summer Employment Program, June 7th – July 16th, 2021. This program is open to students between 12-16 years of age and reside in Muncie, IN. Selected students, up to 200, will be contacted for an interview prior to program acceptance. 

Students selected to participate in the summer program will work every Friday from 8:00 am – 3 pm. Job sites will include but not be limited to the Muncie Parks and YMCA. Students will also participate in a mandatory Mentor Program every Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 pm where guest speakers from the Muncie community will focus on topics such as financial well-being, career development, academic success, etc. The Muncie Parks and Recreation Department has partnered with First Merchants Bank which will allow participants to open individual accounts to enhance their financial responsibility knowledge. 

All events and sessions are mandatory, and any inexcusable absence(s) will result in release from the program.

Interviews for the students will start the week of March 15th-19th.
