Muncie, IN—I AM THE FUTURE OF WORK, a career profiles campaign, connects students and job searchers with an up-close and personal look at careers in technology and advanced manufacturing. This pilot project of the Future of Work initiative also provides next steps for continuing education and job prospects.

Through the first series of videos, employees from Muncie-based Magna Powertrain and Yorktown-based Mursix Corporation highlight their job duties and the educational requirements needed to have a career in their specific field. The videos provide an unscripted account of what it is like to work in these local STEM-based careers.

“This campaign was created to provide high school students a unique opportunity to get a personal look at local high-growth, high-demand jobs that they can be excited about pursuing,” said Jo Ann McCowan, Director of Career Curriculum and Assessment for Muncie Community Schools. “I AM THE FUTURE OF WORK is an innovative tool to help expose students to a variety of career options and help spark their passions and talents.”

The videos will be featured and pushed out through local schools and are also available on the Future of Work webpage and YouTube channel, and the MTEN Facebook and Instagram pages.

“We are excited for the possibilities this new partnership will bring for not only our business, but what this type of initiative means to our community as a whole in terms of creating opportunities for connecting job seekers to good paying jobs.” said Stephen Brand, general manager of Magna Corporation.

Initial funding for the pilot program was provided by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education in partnership with Purdue Polytechnic Anderson. To continue providing an in-depth look at technology, advanced manufacturing jobs and other high-demand, high-growth opportunities, I AM THE FUTURE OF WORK hopes to expand the network of companies involved in the initiative. Opportunities are now available for local companies willing to feature their employees or provide sponsorships for the campaign.
