Muncie, Indiana—A collaboration between Muncie Public Library (MPL) and Muncie Community Schools (MCS) was featured in the September 1, 2018 issue of Library Journal magazine. The articled details how these two Muncie organizations worked together to create a Union Catalog (UCAT). The UCAT makes the collections of both, the library and schools, more accessible for students and library customers alike. In addition, all MCS students are issued a special “READ” card that allows check outs at their school and at any MPL branch. MOMs, an afterschool tutoring center, joined the UCAT last fall and is also mentioned in the article.

The article can be accessed and viewed at this link. It also features collaborative efforts taking place in Los Angeles and in Nashville.

MPL will celebrate the UCAT at a special event on Monday, October 1 at 5pm at Kennedy Library. The reception will feature comments, recognition, and light refreshments. No reservation is needed and the event is free and open to the public. Kennedy Library is located at 1700 W. McGalliard Road, Muncie, IN. For more information call (765) 741-7336.
