Muncie, IN—John Frank League honors Mr. John Frank, a long-time Muncie educator and coach.  John Frank lost his battle with cancer July 17th, 2005. He began teaching for Muncie Community Schools in 1972 at Mckinley Junior High School.  During his time as an educator, John was an inspiration to all who knew him. This memorial embodies his passion for developing our youth. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years, Margery, and daughter Jennifer. Through this league, his memory and his leadership continue on.

The John Frank football league was established in 2009 and exists to promote the mental and physical development of youth in ways that shall develop high character and moral standards, a sense of competitiveness and fair play, respect for authority, love for the game of football, and a knowledge of the fundamentals and techniques of football.

This tackle football league consists primarily of 5th & 6th grade boys and girls from the six elementary schools: Northview, Westview, East Washington Academy, Grissom, Longfellow, as well as Inspire Academy and Burris; in addition, students from  schools outside Muncie may also participate. The league costs $40.00; however, we never deny a child who wishes to participate. Each child will play two quarters, provided their grades and school behavior are in good standing. Grades and school behavior will be monitored by the coaches to ensure these young athletes stay academically-minded throughout middle school and prepare them for high school athletics.

Saturday, August 11th there will be league sign-ups and weigh in at Muncie Central Football Stadium from 9:00am to 12:00pm. We will also have a follow-up date on Tuesday, August 14th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm for those unable to attend the first date. Games will be played on Tuesday evenings at Muncie Southside Middle school, with our championship game played at Muncie Central under the lights.

Safety is our utmost priority for our children; given the concerns of sport-related injuries, we are excited to be working toward a safer option for our youngest athletes.  Please be sure to follow us on social media for updates regarding our upcoming flag-football league.
