Muncie, IN—The Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie invites you to join them as they celebrate their 85th Anniversary in the Muncie Community. In honor of this achievement, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie will host a public open house on Wednesday, April 11, 5:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. at the South Madison location (1710 South Madison St.). In addition to tours of the facilities, guest will hear from this year’s Youth of the Year and vote on their favorite art project created by Club kids. Each vote will be a $1 donation to the Club.
The Open House is scheduled to align with the National Boys & Girls Club Week. This week over 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs across America will celebrate the youth in their communities. This year’s national theme is A Place to Become. The Muncie Club’s CEO, Jason Newman, explains what this theme means, “Our Clubs are all about helping the young people of our community find the voice that suits them best. We want them to be happy, successful, caring individuals, and so we work to provide a safe place for them to explore the opportunities that are all around them, to find the ones that work best for them. This is truly a place to help them find who they want to become and how to get there.”
During this week, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie will host events at each of the four Boys & Girls Club locations. Activities include dodgeball, basketball, UNO, and Apples to Apples. On Friday, students at each club will make their own video of the club kids singing “Happy Birthday” and students will have the chance to decorate cookies.
The community is welcome to sign up for tours of all locations during this week by signing up at bgcmuncie.org/tours.
Founded in 1933, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie is an active community partner, collaborating with entities across the city. For other questions, please contact Boys & Girls Clubs of Muncie at (765) 282-4461 ext. 103 or bgcmuncie.org.
