MUNCIE, Ind. – Can you find a fairytale ending (we’re talking the happily ever after kind) to the Once Upon a Muncie Mystery?

A crime – pretend crime, of course – has been committed in the Enchanted Forest and your help is needed! Join fellow fairytale fact finders for the third Muncie Mystery during First Thursday on May 5 in downtown Muncie.

According to The Fairy Godmother, Snow White has succumbed to a mysterious sleeping spell! When asked why she couldn’t just undo the spell with her magic wand, she said that it wasn’t that easy. To undo this spell, The Fairy Godmother needs your help to figure out who committed this crime and what they used to put her to sleep. Only then can she reverse the curse.

Five primary suspects – The Big Bad Wolf, The Three Little Pigs (yes, they are a package deal and count as one suspect), Pinocchio, The White Rabbit and The Muffin Man – were spotted near the scene at the time of the crime. And several potential pieces of evidence – a sleeping potion, a poison apple, a poppy flower, a sewing wheel and a pocket watch – were left behind.

Between 5 and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5th, sleuths of all ages are invited to visit 10 participating downtown businesses to collect clues. At each location, you will have the chance to interact with the suspects and check out several possible “weapons.”

Participating businesses are Downtown Farm Stand, Sea Salt and Cinnamon, Accutech, The Hayloft, Open Door, Toys Forever, Twin Archer, Jesse Anderson/State Farm, Massage Therapy Associates and the Muncie Visitors Bureau.

You can download a Crime Tracker – with map – at https://www.downtownmuncie.org/muncie-mystery. You may also pick one up at during First Thursday at Canan Commons or Dave’s Alley.

Crime Trackers must be turned in at Canan Commons by 6:30 p.m. The dastardly villain and facts about the case will be revealed at Canan Commons at 7 p.m. Rain location will be at Open Door.

Investigators who correctly identify the villain and weapon will be entered into a drawing for great prizes, including a Family Pass for the Muncie Children’s Museum; a gift certificate from Sea Salt and Cinnamon; an overnight stay at Courtyard Marriott; a gift certificate from Heidi Hale Designs; a gift certificate from Twin Archer; a DWNTWN Swag Bag, and 2 sets of 4 tickets to the upcoming Muncie Civic Theatre production of “Shrek.”

You must be present to win.

Muncie Mystery is presented by Muncie Downtown Development Partnership, Muncie Civic Theatre, Indiana Public Radio, Ball State PBS, Ivy Tech Community College Muncie, and Ball State Office of Community Engagement.
