MUNCIE, INCornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 West Main St., has upcoming programming that may interest and delight Muncie residents old and young alike.

Peeps Diorama Contest

Artists of all ages are invited to submit a Peep’s® diorama as Cornerstone Center for the Arts celebrates the much-loved gooey concoction and the arrival of spring.

Come join the Peeps® people as they submit their shoebox dioramas designed to delight and entertain from 10 am until 2 pm Saturday, April 2, at Cornerstone, 520 E. Main Street. This is a family event so inappropriate or violent entries will not be allowed.

Judges will awarded prizes for the best creations.

There will be other seasonal activities for participants.

There is no charge for participants.


2022 Young Artist Exhibition Juried Art Competition

The 2022 Young Artist Exhibition, presented by PrimeTrust Federal Credit Union and Cornerstone Center for the Arts, is a juried art competition open to all K-12 students residing in Delaware County. Contestants are invited to submit up to two works of art in the categories of 2D (painting, drawing), 3D (sculpture, fiber arts, ceramics), and Intermedia (photography, videography, digital animation.)

The theme of the competition is “My Community,” encouraging young artists to reflect in their work their communities and what they share in common with those around them as they play, learn, and grow. Submissions had to be received by April 1, 2022.

YAE Juried Art Competition finalists can see their work professionally displayed throughout May in the Judith Barnes Memorial Gallery at Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St., beginning Thursday, May 5.

Members of the community are invited to celebrate these young artists during the YAE Awards Ceremony at Cornerstone Center for the Arts from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 20.


Cornerstone Summer Camp is Just Around the Corner

The Education Department at Cornerstone Center for the Arts will offer two exciting sessions of Summer Camp for ages 7 to 12 this June and July.

June Camp will run from 6/13-6/17 and July Camp will take place 7/11/-7/15. This year’s themes will be “Around the World in 80 Days” and “Monsters, Myths, and Fantasy”.

Each camp experience will be $250 per child with a discounted rate of $400 when signing up for both camp sessions. Hurry, registration opens soon and spots are limited! Each camp will host a maximum of 20 students, so don’t delay.

The current Spring semester ends Friday, April 22 with the Spring Festival, showcasing the students work on Sunday, April 24.


Open Mic Night

Cornerstone Center for the Arts, 520 E. Main St., is again hosting an evening of music, hip hop and the spoken word from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28. There is a $5 cover charge for those attending.
