Muncie, IN—Urban Light Community Development Corporation is proud to announce The Lighthouse Recovery Home for women has obtained state certification as a Certified Recovery Residence through the Indiana Affiliation of Recovery Residences (INARR).

The Lighthouse Recovery Home promotes sustainable, long-term recovery through a faith-based, 3-phase program that restores dignity and develops healthy boundaries. This holistic program is designed to promote sustainable recovery through lifestyle changes in community and relationships; finances; and spiritual, physical and mental health.

“We’re thankful INARR creates a network of support and accountability for residential recovery homes like The Lighthouse,” says Joy Rediger, Executive Director of Urban Light Community Development. “We’re proud to be a part of the INARR family.”

INARR is dedicated to ensuring that individuals in recovery can find safe and supportive housing in the State of Indiana. The alliance provides guidance and a variety of resources to Recovery Residence providers to ensure that residents who live in INARR certified houses have the very best chances of succeeding in their recovery journey. More information regarding INARR can be found at: www.inarr.org.

Urban Light Community Development has been working toward this certification since early 2019 and is deeply thankful for the support of the funders who helped make this possible. Supporters have included The Community Champions Fund, Westminster Presbyterian Church, and a Funders Forum Collaborative grant; which funded a major part of the needs created by this initiative.

“In 2019, the Funders Forum focused collaborative grantmaking on substance-use prevention and recovery,” said Kelly K. Shrock, president of The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, representing the Funders Forum Collaborative. “Supporting The Lighthouse Recovery Home as the organization worked to achieve the INARR certification was one of many ways to address substance-use recovery in our community.”

Local funders are invited to participate in the Funders Forum to discuss community issues, learn from non-profit organizations about their programs and services, and participate in collaborative grant-making. Members with the Funders Forum Collaborative include Ball Brothers Foundation, George and Frances Ball Foundation, The Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Delaware Advancement Corporation/Muncie Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, First Merchants Corporation, Indiana Michigan Power, Harry and Janet Kitselman Foundation Fund, Kiwanis Club of Muncie, Maxon Foundation Fund, Muncie Altrusa Foundation, MutualBank Charitable Foundation, Office of Community Development – City of Muncie, Old National Bank Foundation, Psi Iota Xi, Rotary Club of Muncie, Hamer and Phyllis Shafer Foundation, Tri Kappa, United Way of Delaware, Henry, and Randolph Counties, and the Sherman and Marjorie Zeigler Foundation.

Director of The Lighthouse, Dori Taylor, is the original visionary of this residential recovery home; which can serve 6 women at a time. Residents stay for an average of 10 months and the program typically serves 15 women per year.
